- The cost of a university education has

Which are obstacles to accessing a universityeducation, as well as a considerable barrier to finishing a degree.education. - Scholarships and bursaries are an integral part of the student finance system,
withoutessentialwhichfor enabling motivated andoutstandinghigh-achievingindividualsstudentscouldwho may not be able to afford a university education. - The University of Alberta should not only aim to
attractrecruittalentedmore students, but demonstrate a commitment to realizing the full potential of current undergraduatestudents.students and supporting them. - Financial
needneedscanaffectbe detrimental tostudents' academic performance and engagement in extracurricular studentachievementachievements by diverting student focus and efforttotowards employment. - The current scholarship and bursaries applications process is
inefficientinefficient, complicated and timeconsuming.consuming, posing additional challenges for students.
Resolutions
- The Students’ Union shall lobby the University of Alberta to increase both the number and value of awards granted to continuing undergraduate students in order to be consistent with the number and value of entrance awards.

awardedawarded, prioritizing financial need and/or student involvement. based on the students’ financial need and/or involvement. - The Students’ Union
